TUSC ElECTION 2023

TUSC mostly known as Tezpur University Student Council is a council which works for students welfare and development. The members of TUSC are elected through a complete election process which is held once in every academic year. This year TUSC election was held on 23rd September , Saturday and the voting time was 10am to 1pm. 

The verification of voters was the student id card of voters. With verified id cards students were not eligible for voting. Bonafide full time students without any record of academic, conduct probation and disciplinary action will be eligible to cast vote. Voter will cast his/her vote at the voting compartment to maintain secrecy of voting. Asper instructions given by Election committee, Ballot paper must be folded twice, first along the length (vertically) and thereafter along the width (horizontally) as pre-folded by the polling official before 

inserting in the ballot box. Stamp the X mark of the rubber seal in the space provided against the candidate of your choice. Please do not put your thumb impression or use a pen to make a cross or tick sign in the ballot paper. Doing so will render your vote Invalid. Please affix the X marks in the middle of the Box of the particular candidate, to whom you want to cast your vote. It must be ensured that the X mark is clearly inside the box and not touching the borderlines. Else, your vote will be Invalid. Stamp one X mark against each post. If you affix more than one X mark, against one post ballot paper will be considered Invalid.

Positions or categories of TUSC election 2033 were - 1. President, 2.General Secretary, 3.Vice President, 3.Assistant General Secretary, 4.Cultural Secretary, 5.Literary Secretary, 6.Outdoor Sports Games Secretary, 7.Indoor Sports Games Secretary, 8.Social Service Secretary, 9.Hobby Secretary. All of these posts are not competitive because there were lack of enough eligible candidates but most of the positions are competitive.

The process of this election was , firstly interested candidates should submit their nominations. Then all the nomination papers went through scrutiny and eligible and non eligible candidates were found and the list of eligible candidates released. After that all the eligible candidates went for open debates and phases of campanings. Then on a specific day polling was done for the election. This year it was on 23rd October and that day itself at 10pm the result of the election was released. The votes counted by the faculties who are part of the election committee and the election committee headed by the head officer. 

There were two alliances one headed by PMH and other one included TWH, DWS , BWH, PWH , NMS and CV Raman men's hostel. This year TUSC election won by the alliance of KMH , PMH and JWH. Asstv, General Secretary elect - Nirmita Saikia ,Cultural Secretary elect - Sneh Meend, Literary Secretary elect - Dipjyoti Gowala, Hobby Club Secretary elect - Drishita Das , Social Service Secretary elect - Sourav Das , Indoor games sports Secretary elect - Ashutosh Yadav , Outdoor Games Sports Secretary - Tamoghna Saha. 

Percentage of students who voted this year was close to 60 percent and 40 to 45 percent of students did not vote. According to the election committee the percentage is higher for boys who gave the vote for this year's election. And the percentage of winning votes were different for different posts. Booth location for polling was different for different programs like MA , Btech, MSC and others. The voting was done in HSS building, SOE building, Academic building in different wings. 

The last president Abhijnyan Pukhan was also a active member in the election organisation process done in TU this year. The way last year's council member's worked for students welfare and betterment is commendable. This year TUSC 2023 also has their own vision and mission about the betterment of students , environment of the campus , cultural development of the place , cordial relationship between authority students and faculty , effective rules and regulations. The main motto of TUSC 2023 is to make a student friendly campus and maintain the decoram and decipline for maintaining suitable environment. All the eligible candidates did their campanings according to there needs such as they went to hostels , talked with students and talked about their vison and mission. 

The main focus was student should go and vote and use their rights,they can vote for whoever they want but they should vote and voting should be a thing where everyone participated. This year also they completed theirs voting process very peacefully and the new candidates already started looking at the concerned matters.
